I opted for the clinic this year when I learned they were offering half-price Coggins tests. A negative Coggins test is required any time you cross state lines, which we technically do anytime we trail ride in the Tetons as the state line runs just west of all the trail heads. I've never heard of any one getting tagged for lacking a Coggins in that area, but at Yellowstone National Park the rangers check for papers on every horse. No Coggins, no ride.
