Sorry, just got back into the nice warm house after spending the last couple hours being blown around while playing with Duke out in the swamp my fields are turning into. I can't believe wet and muddy everything is. The poor horses are living in a mucky sludge. I tried turning them out to pasture yesterday, but it's so wet, their hooves were destroying the pasture and turning that into a mud pit, too.
As an added benefit, Piper decided to race around the burn pile. When she tried to make the turn, her hind legs slipped out from under her in the muck. She looked like a pretzel. She gimped around briefly afterward, but then seemed OK.
I haven't had time to ride her lately, so I planned to take her jogging with me this morning. We didn't get very far. It was pretty clear that she had tweaked something pretty good in her fall yesterday. Hopefully a few days rest will clear things up. Piper is not a horse that likes to just sit around!
