We did more of the same today. I introduced Stage 2 of lunging--this involves asking him to roll back and switch directions without coming to a stop. Up till now, he wasn't ready to do that--it was too much pressure too quickly and he got too wired when I tried last week. I also worked on desensitizing to a tarp, an empty feed sack, and, of course, the ball.
Raven-I'd like to take her to the arena to do some things, so yesterday I asked her to load in my little two horse trailer. She wasn't buying it. Sooo, we spent the last two days working on trailer loading. She's pretty suspicious. I don't need to take her any time soon, so I'd rather give her whatever time she needs to get comfortable.
She is learning, though, that it's a lot of work to be outside the trailer and that if she steps into the trailer-even just part way- she gets to rest and relax. Today she got in as far as she could without stepping up her hind feet.
I did turn all the horses out to pasture for about a half hour yesterday. They loved it!
