For the first two-thirds of the trip, the water was so shallow we spent much of the time wading in the warm river. The river bottom has a nice sandy bottom that was easy on my wussy bare feet.
Kid 2 walked along the sand bars for much of the way which was perfect since she had been asking to spend time on a sandy beach. Kid 4 hopped out of the canoe and swam as much as possible.
We saw deer, a turtle, fish, freshwater clams, and a golden eagle.
I went on 2 longer canoe trips as a teen-one of them was three weeks long. This trip brought back great memories.
