As I understand it, military balls are very formal occasions. So ladies, you know what this means... DRESS SHOPPING! I have spent large chunks of the last two days trying to find just the right dress. It killed me yesterday, because the weather was so nice, what I really wanted to do was escape with Piper over to Beaver Dick Park and hit the trails.
The Circle Of Love owner hit my problem with finding the right dress right on the head. I am right in the in-between gray area. There are tons of gorgeous prom dresses available. There are lots of attractive matronly dresses. But there are not a lot of choices out there for a fairly fit woman that is not a teenager or a grandma--unless I want to go strapless or have a skirt that barely covers my crotch. I prefer to be sufficiently strapped and I don't think those tiny dresses are all that attractive on even Hollywood actresses; much less middle-age moms trying to hide their little pot-belly!
I am searching for something that is modest, elegant and classy. It needs to be formal, but not so formal that I would never be able to wear it again later on. If I had more time, I could possibly order something on line, but the clock is ticking!
I did find one that I liked here in Rexburg, but it was at The Glass Slipper, which only rents out dresses. If I am going to spend $75-125 on a dress, I'd like to be able to keep it and wear it again sometime--for instance, Stable Boy just informed me that his departmental Christmas party is going to be more formal this year.
Sigh. I need to wrap up this post. It's time for me to head back down to Idaho Falls. There are still a couple bridal stores that I haven't checked out yet. Wish me luck!
