Made it as far as Cheyenne, WY the first night. The KOA there has the most awesome bathroom! It was like staying in a hotel. Our new Coleman Instant tent worked great in spite of a crack in one of the poles. Sets up in about a minute!
Second night in St. Joseph, Missouri didn't have as nice restrooms-kind of gross, actually-but made up for it with a nice clean swimming pool. Stable Boy and I went for a run early in the morning. Kid 4 woke before we returned and found a big frog that he chased all around the ditch by our camp site. He got to take his second shower in less than ten hours to wash off the mud that he was covered with. Boys.
We toured Liberty Jail in Liberty, Missouri and made quick stops at Far West and Adam-ondi-Ahman before finally pulling into Nauvoo, Illinois to attend the pageant there. Kid 1 wants us to sign up to be one of the volunteer ensemble families next year. We'll see.
Went to Carthage Jail on Wednesday before heading up to Milwaukee to visit family and attend a family reunion tomorrow.
Trip Highlights
It's great having three drivers. Between Stable Boy and Kid 1, I haven't had to drive yet! What I have done is act as navigator from the back seat. Kid 2 has commandeered the front passenger seat as she is still recovering from the concussion she got a couple weeks ago coming off one of the horses. I'm not sure who designed the seats in the back of the van, but in my opinion, a head rest is meant to lay your head back on, not push your head forward. So glad I'm the grown up so I don't have to sit back there all the time!
Memorable quote- Kid 1 in reference to a short bed GMC 2500 club cab that passed us, "Eewww, it looks like a guy that only works out on the top half and does nothing for the bottom half...but he probably shaves his legs. Gross!"
